The „Baltic Basket“ was created from the principles of sustainability and comfort. An everyday object which is practical, which one likes to use because it is beautiful and which is sustainable without compromise.
The „Baltic Basket“ was developed on our own behalf. In my career, I had often created conceptual designs and designs for shopping baskets. However, this was about mass-produced goods for supermarkets and merchandise. The first development specification was usually the price and the material without exception plastic, so nothing that you as a consumer like to show. With 2 small children in the corona pandemic and the daily shopping of small quantities, the topic of the shopping basket was back. I wanted a sustainable, durable shopping basket that is easy to carry and highly resilient.

design development
The development of the design was detailed work. The different materials wood, metal and textile had to interact perfectly. The “Baltic Basket” has a total of 14 different components and is made up of 49 individual parts. Customer benefit and sustainability had to be implemented without compromise. If you yourself want to avoid green washing, sustainability is a real challenge.

Local Production
We produce where our market is – in Europe. For the Baltic Basket we use birch wood from sustainable forestry in Scandinavia and the Baltic States.
100% recycled PET
The decision between organic cotton and recycled PET was tedious, but also exciting. We have compared extensive data regarding CO2 balance, cultivation, origin, processing. Combined with the requirements for easy surface cleaning and durability, the choice for recycled PET. The prerequisite was that it was made of pure and 100% recycled PET material. This is checked with the highest quality certification with the Global Recycled Standard.
